Maker Workshop Series: Community Care: Basic First Aid with Alex Miranda

  • YMCA Irving Park 4251 West Irving Park Road Chicago, Illinois, 60641 United States (map)

In collaboration with the Edgeville Pirate Medics and YMCA Irving park, this hands-on workshop introduces participants to the basics of responding when a neighbor is injured or experiencing a medical emergency. Together, we'll discuss how to approach a situation, how to call for additional help, and practice essential skills in a supportive, controlled environment.

Participants should be prepared to get a little messy (water will be used during demonstrations) and should be aware that discussions will include scenarios involving injury, death, and blood.

Participants will walk away with:

*The knowledge of their legal protections when providing aid

*The ability to know how and when to activate 911

*The ability to perform CPR and bleeding control
